Work at Home Coach & Strategist

Need to supplement your family income for the holidays and beyond? If you are not sure how to start,  no worries. I’ve got your back. Remember as overwhelming as the Internet is, it still can help you to make money. You can even supplement your family income while you work from home with little ones in tow.

“You can even convert your clutter to cash!”

Idea #1: Convert Your Clutter to Cash

With the holidays around the corner, it’s a perfect time to clean your home and convert your clutter to cash. Go through each room and gather all the stuff that you no longer need, even clothes, that you can sell. Weather permitting you can have a garage sale. Otherwise you can sell your stuff through Craigslist (for your safety always meet someone in a public place or if you have bulky items like furniture, transport to your garage and make sure someone else is around).

You can also sell your stuff through e-bay.  Keep in mind you’ll need to cover packaging and shipping costs. There’s always a risk that the buyer may request a refund so you may want to clearly specify in writing that nothing is refundable.

You can also sell baby and toddler clothes, toys, and furniture through local retail stores specializing in buying and selling baby and toddler items. To find these stores do a Google search by typing in places to sell baby and toddler clothes and toys near me.

If you need ideas for online garage sales, Pinterest is the place to go.

Idea #2: Convert Your Talent to Cash

Arts & Craft: If you are great at crocheting, knitting, making jewelry, art work, etc. you can earn some cash through selling your products online.  A great place to sell your arts and craft is Etsy. The key to success is to promote the items that you post in Etsy via social media. Pinterest is perfect for that. You’ll also be competing with others selling similar products in Etsy so look for alternative places where you can sell. For example you could sell at local events and via Craigslist.

Fiverr: You can also sell specific services via Fiverr like writing, creating & editing blog posts, graphic design, research, writing articles, and more. Let your imagination run free and try to come up with fun things to sell like creating cartoons of people, memes, memorable quotes, voiceovers, and more.

Graphic Design Skills: If you are excellent in graphics design, consider selling logos and other graphics on 99 designs.  You can also design T-shirts and make money selling them online. Examples of places to design and sell T-shirts – TeeSpring, CafePress, Skreened, Spreadshirt, and Zazzle.

To successfully convert your talent to cash, you need to actively promote your services. Start by asking friends and professionals you know if they need the services that you’re skilled at, and direct them to the appropriate links to your products/services. If you need to brainstorm, please feel to schedule a free 30 minute session with me.

Idea #3: Part-Time Work

Finding part-time work is another way to supplement your family income working from home. There are a variety of resources, both free and paid, where you can look for part-time work at home opportunities. The best free resources include The Work at Home Woman, Work at Home Mom Revolution, and Rat Race Rebellion.

There are paid resources where you can find part-time work at home options. The advantage of using paid options is that all the opportunities have been screened for you so you do not have to worry about weeding out work at home scams and multi-level marketing opportunities that requires you to sell products. The average monthly cost of using paid resources is between $10 and $16 per month, and you can cancel anytime. The best paid work at home resources include flexjobs.com, Virtual Vocations, and HireMyMom.com.

Idea #4: Freelance Opportunities

If you have specialized skills in accounting, marketing, virtual assistant, developer, etc., another option to supplement your family income is to bid on freelance projects. Some websites to find freelance work are Freelancer Upwork,  Guru.com, and People per Hour. You are your personal brand when it comes to promoting your freelance work. Be sure to get references and testimonials from past employers, colleagues, and clients that you can include in your profile and proposals that you submit as one of the ways to stand out from the competition.

If you’re interested in pursuing the freelance option and need guidance on how to promote yourself, please feel free to sign up for my free 30 minute session where we can discuss ideas for you to create a marketing plan.

Idea #5: Other Ways To Get Paid

Testing Websites: Another way to supplement your family income is to get paid testing websites to ensure that they are user friendly and easy to navigate.  You can earn $10 to $15 for 20 minutes of work. Evaluating and testing websites means that most likely your screen will be recorded as you click through each step. Your voice may even be recorded as you verbalize each step.

If you’re interested, here’s a list of websites to explore: User Testing, Enroll, StartUpLift, and try my UI. Keep in mind that some of these websites will pay after they scan your work for quality.

Surveys: Taking surveys is another way for you to supplement your family’s income. Each completed survey will earn you anywhere from $0.50 to $8.00. Obviously you’ll not get rich by completing surveys. In order to average a few hundred dollars per month, you’ll need to take surveys from multiple companies. Be prepared to have your In-Box flooded with potential surveys for you to take. In order to get paid, the surveys will need to be approved.  Examples of survey websites include: Swagbucks, Harris Poll, Cash Crate, and Vindale Research.
